Environmental Statement We use a heritage-grade mineral blend that cures over decades, absorbing CO₂ and producing colour-consistent, and durable bricks without kiln firing.
Our Commitment to the Environment
At AH Bricks, we create Australian-made handmade bricks modelled on the proven methods of ancient Greek and Roman brickmakers. Our proprietary heritage-grade mineral blend naturally cures over decades — absorbing CO₂ from the atmosphere for up to 150 years — producing a stronger, more stable brick that will not grow over time.
This method delivers consistent colours and blends, with the colour running all the way through the brick (not applied as a surface coating), and ensures no surface discolouration or efflorescence.
These qualities are evidenced by the Full Exposure Rating awarded to our bricks — meaning they are designed to withstand the harshest Australian conditions. By making locally, we avoid the heavy fuel use and emissions of importing bricks from overseas.
How we work responsibly:
- Naturally cured – not kiln fired: avoiding the high energy consumption and emissions of traditional firing
- CO₂-absorbing heritage process: slow curing over decades locks in atmospheric CO₂ and builds lasting strength
- Dimensional stability: our bricks do not expand over time, maintaining structural integrity for generations
- True through-colour: consistent tone and blending throughout the brick, never painted or surface-treated
- No discolouration or efflorescence: natural composition and curing prevent common surface staining issues
- Full Exposure Rating: independently recognised for performance in extreme weather and environmental conditions
- Local sourcing: raw materials from within Australia, reducing transport emissions and supporting regional industries
- Minimal waste: offcuts and production by-products are reused where possible, with careful batching and handcrafting to keep excess low
- Long life span: built to last generations, lowering lifetime environmental impact.
We reject token gestures and “offset” schemes in favour of meaningful, practical choices that reduce environmental impact at the source.
Our focus is on quality, durability, and timeless design — principles that serve both our clients and the environment.
